The popular and flexible British neobank Revolut is launching a savings account on the Swedish market with interest rates up to 2.65 percent. The initiative comes after a record year where the fintech company more than doubled its profit and surpassed 60 million customers globally.
Revolut reported a profit of one billion pounds for 2024, representing more than a doubling compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the customer base grew to over 60 million users worldwide.
The company’s founder and CEO, Nik Storonsky, described last year as a milestone for the company, but emphasized that this is just the beginning. “But we’re just getting started”, Storonsky said, adding that the goal now is to reach 100 million daily active users in 100 countries, according to reports from Financial Times.
Competitive terms for Swedish savers
The new savings account, called Instant Access Savings, offers flexible terms without notice periods. Customers can deposit and withdraw money at any time through the mobile app, where interest is calculated daily.
Interest rates vary depending on the customer’s membership level with Revolut. Standard and Plus members receive 1.18 percent interest, while Premium members get 1.48 percent. Metal members are offered 2.07 percent and the most advantageous Ultra members can get up to 2.65 percent.
— This launch represents an important step in our continued expansion of financial services in Sweden. Through daily interest calculation and 24/7 access to their savings, we are making it smoother than ever for our Swedish customers to build their capital with us, says Fiona Davies, who is responsible for growth in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Nordic region at Revolut.
The launch of the savings account is part of Revolut’s broader strategy to establish itself as a full-service financial platform and compete directly with traditional major banks in the Swedish market.
TIP! Applying for and obtaining a bank account with Revolut through the company’s mobile app takes in many cases under 5 minutes and is fundamentally free while the account can be obtained the same day.
