Former Prime Minister of Pakistan: “Defying the U.S. got me out of office”

Updated June 14, 2023, Published June 13, 2023 – By Editorial staff
Imran Khan's foreign policy was considered anti-American.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan claims that it was pressure from the US that brought him and his government down last year. The Americans are said to have preferred a change of regime in the country because Khan was considered too "Russia-friendly" and his foreign policy was not deemed to favor American interests.

In a candid interview with Newsweek, the former prime minister claims that his "defiance" of the Americans led to his political downfall last year. The US was reportedly very unhappy with the foreign policy Khan wanted to pursue and even more unhappy with his official visit to Russia.

Because of this, and following persuasion campaigns by his political opponents, the US, according to Khan, began to consider him an "enemy of the US" and eventually the opposition in the country, with US support, was able to maneuver him out.

Khan himself says he has written evidence that the Americans were involved in a conspiracy to remove him and replace him with a more US-friendly regime.

– For some reason, if you don’t agree with the US foreign policy, you turn anti-American

Khan, who himself advocates what he says is a foreign policy that does not support the interests of the US or other major powers, was removed from office just over a year ago following a vote of no confidence in the country's parliament.

Khan is also under house arrest and is accused of involvement in corruption, terrorism and murder, but says he is innocent and that his opponents made up the charges against him for purely political reasons to get him out of office.

I’m not really that worried about my own fate, because that’s secondary. The main thing is the future of Pakistan, which is what I’m worried about. Because I really fear now that this path which we are being taken on, there is nothing but darkness ahead. Because, apart from anything else, our whole democracy is being dismantled.

The US State Department said in a statement that it had nothing to do with the removal of Khan.

"These allegations are categorically false; you have heard me say this before. Pakistani politics are a matter for the Pakistani people to decide and for them to pursue within the auspices of their own constitution and laws", it is claimed.

It is worth mentioning that as recently as November 2022, Khan was the target of an assassination attempt, shortly after his removal from office and while delivering a speech to his supporters urging them to march on the capital. Khan and nine others were injured when a seemingly lone gunman opened fire with automatic weapons, and a sympathizer of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party died in the attack.

Orbán: Poland has become a vassal of Brussels

The globalist agenda

Published today 5:41 pm – By Editorial staff
Relations between Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk (left) and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán are becoming increasingly toxic.

Relations between Viktor Orbán in Hungary and Donald Tusk in Poland are deepening into an open conflict over both EU influence and the war in Ukraine. Orbán argues that the Tusk problem goes far beyond bilateral disagreements — it's about Poland being given the role of Brussels' vassal state.

The Hungarian Prime Minister claims that Poland under Tusk has taken a dramatic step toward losing national autonomy and has also become a "vassal of Brussels".

"He has become one of the loudest warmongers in Europe – yet his war policy is failing: Ukraine is running out of European money, and the Polish people are tired of the war. He cannot change course because he has turned Poland into a vassal of Brussels", Orbán writes in a post on X.

Beyond the war in Ukraine, questions about the EU's role are also central to the conflict. Orbán has previously accused Brussels of playing an active role in helping Donald Tusk's EU-friendly government come to power in Poland.

Donald Tusk has in turn criticized Orbán for viewing "Brussels, democracy and a transparent rule of law are a problem", an attack that has further escalated tensions between the countries.

Shift in Polish public opinion

According to an opinion poll from the IBRiS institute, currently only 33.5 percent of Poles support Ukraine's NATO membership. This represents a shift that leads Orbán to claim that Europe is waking up, and that Polish public support for Ukraine is declining.

Donald Tusk, however, has declared the war in Ukraine as "our war", referring to the fact that the future of Poland and Europe is at stake. Orbán responds that both Poland and the EU are playing a dangerous game with the lives of millions of Europeans.

Hungary's repeated blocking of military support to Ukraine and its application for EU and NATO membership has long been a thorn in the side of Poland and other EU member states.

Poland and Hungary previously belonged to the so-called Visegrád Group (V4) and often shared positions against Brussels. But as the war in Ukraine progressed and major strategic dividing lines emerged, the relationship has become strained.

While Tusk strives to gain increased influence for Poland within the EU and NATO, Orbán has made it clear that he wants to see a different kind of European order — where nation-states have greater freedom and Brussels' central power is questioned.

Trump and Xi reach trade deal – promise “everlasting peace and success”

The new multipolar world order

Donald Trump and Xi Jinping with their respective delegations.

The United States and China have concluded a one-year trade agreement that will reduce American tariffs on Chinese goods from 57 to 47 percent.

President Donald Trump described the agreement as groundbreaking following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on October 30 during the APEC summit in Busan, South Korea.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated: "My G2 meeting with President Xi of China was a great one for both of our countries. This meeting will lead to everlasting peace and success. God bless both China and the USA!"

Aboard the presidential plane Air Force One on his way back to Washington, Trump confirmed that the countries had reached an agreement.

— We have a deal, he told assembled journalists and explained that the trade agreement will be renegotiated annually.

— Every year we'll renegotiate the deal, but I think the deal will go on for a long time, long beyond the year. We'll negotiate at the end of the year.

Fentanyl behind tariff reduction

Trump emphasized that the ten percentage point tariff reduction from 57 to 47 percent is directly linked to China agreeing to take strong action against the fentanyl problem.

— It was 57, now it's 47.

He further explained that the reduction was due to the fentanyl issue and China's actions.

— We reduced it by the fentanyl because I believe they are really taking strong action. We've already seen the action on fentanyl, and they're taking very strong action. So reduced to 10 percent.

Large purchases of agricultural products

In a further announcement, Trump stated that China has committed to immediately purchasing "large and tremendous amounts" of soybeans and other American agricultural products as part of the agreement.

— We're in agreement on so many elements. Large amounts, tremendous amounts of the soybeans and other farm products are going to be purchased, starting immediately. If you notice, President Xi authorised yesterday for China to start buying very large quantities of soybeans and other things, which I appreciated. That was a very nice gesture.

The announcement comes after China earlier this year halted its purchases of American soybeans in response to Trump's tariff announcements. The halt left American farmers with unsold crops worth billions of dollars, according to CNN.

Massive police raid in Rio – at least 64 killed in bloody confrontation

organized crime

Brazilian security forces in 2012. The country has for decades fought against organized crime and drug cartels in the favela areas of major cities.

One of the deadliest police operations in modern Brazilian history ended in massive bloodshed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday.

At least 60 suspected gang members and four police officers were killed when 2,500 police and soldiers conducted a large-scale raid against the Comando Vermelho cartel in the favela areas of Complexo de Alemão and Penha.

The operation, which according to state governor Claudio Castro was the largest in Rio de Janeiro's history, involved police in helicopters and armored vehicles. During the violent shootouts, 81 suspects were arrested, while 93 rifles and over half a ton of drugs were seized.

Castro said in a video that around 60 criminal suspects were "neutralized" during the raid. According to the state government, "those killed resisted the police action" and an unknown number of people were injured.

The UN human rights office said it was "horrified" by the deadly police operation and reminded authorities of their obligations to comply with international law and human rights.

César Muñoz, head of Human Rights Watch in Brazil, called the events "a huge tragedy" and a "disaster".

The public prosecutor's office must open its own investigations and clarify the circumstances of each death, Muñoz said.

"War-like numbers"

Luis Flavio Sapori, a sociologist and security expert, described the scale of the operation as completely unprecedented.

What's different about today's operation is the magnitude of the victims. These are war numbers, he said.

Sapori also criticized the operation as ineffective because it did not lead to the arrest of leaders but rather foot soldiers who can easily be replaced.

The police and state government, for their part, defend the operation and point out that it was preceded by a year-long investigation of the criminal network. Comando Vermelho, which emerged from Rio de Janeiro's prisons, has in recent years expanded its control over more and more favela areas and, according to authorities, poses a growing threat to security in the city.

Rio has been the scene of deadly police raids for decades. In May 2021, for example, 28 people were killed in the Jacarezinho favela, but Tuesday's operation was significantly larger in scale.

Republicans demand Biden’s pardons be invalidated

Published October 29, 2025 – By Editorial staff
A Republican committee now wants to invalidate several of President Biden's executive orders, concluding that his staff misused the automated signing device.

A committee led by Republicans in the US House of Representatives accuses Joe Biden's inner circle of deliberately concealing the former president's mental decline during his time in the White House.

In a report presented on Tuesday, the legitimacy of several presidential decisions is questioned, including pardons, citing alleged misuse of the so-called autopen – a device that automatically reproduces the president's signature.

The report, bearing the telling title The Biden Autopen Presidency: Decline, Delusion, and Deception in the White House, was presented by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform under the leadership of Representative James Comer.

According to the committee, Biden's "inner circle of loyalists attempted to mislead the nationn" regarding the president's "diminishing mental and physical capabilities", and the congressional members are convinced that this involves a systematic cover-up.

The committee also directs sharp criticism at how the president's staff allegedly handled the automated signing device.

"As President Biden declined, his staff abused the autopen and a lax chain-of-command policy to effect executive actions that lack any documentation of whether they were in fact authorized", the report states.

Lawmakers are particularly critical of "clemency actions taken in the final days of the Biden presidency", which involved convicted violent offenders.

Based on these circumstances, the committee draws a far-reaching conclusion: "The Committee deems void all executive actions signed by the autopen without proper, corresponding, contemporaneous, written approval traceable to the president's own consent".

Doctor invoked right to remain silent

The committee is now urging the District of Columbia Board of Medicine to review Biden's physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor. The background is that O'Connor invoked his right under the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution – the right not to testify against oneself – when asked whether he had been ordered to lie about the former president's health condition.

Furthermore, the committee recommends that the Department of Justice initiate investigations against several other high-ranking members of the Biden administration.

A spokesperson for Biden dismisses the report's conclusions and assured that "there was no conspiracy, no cover-up and no wrongdoing".

President Donald Trump accused his predecessor's senior staff in May of committing "treason at the highest level" by carrying out unauthorized actions using Biden's autopen.
