In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán says that Donald Trump is the only one who can end the war in Ukraine and that it is the US – not Ukraine – that decides how long the war will last.
According to the Hungarian president, Ukraine has no chance of winning a war against Russia on its own – and anyone who says otherwise is lying. The West’s current strategy of pumping weapons and equipment to Ukrainian soldiers will not work to defeat Russia either, he says.
Orbán explains that if the West, and especially the US, stops supplying money and equipment, the war will be over very quickly, and that the Americans are the de facto decision-makers on how to resolve the war.
He is also not impressed with Joe Biden’s handling of the war in Ukraine or foreign policy in general – and says the best thing would be for Donald Trump to be re-elected president.
– Call back Trump. … Trump is the man who can save the Western world, he declares.

According to the Hungarian prime minister, Donald Trump conducted the best American foreign policy in decades, not starting any new wars and dealing well with North Korea, Russia and China. If Trump had been president when Russia attacked Ukraine, the war would never have happened, he says.
When Carlson brings up the allegations that it was the Biden administration that blew up the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, Orbán replies that his government was quick to classify the act as a terrorist attack – but that Germany and other Western countries, for some reason, did not want to do so.
If the same thing happened to TurkStream, which brings gas from Russia through Turkey, Bulgaria and Serbia, it would be considered an act of war or a terrorist attack, and the response would be “immediate”.
On the war in Ukraine, Orbán insists that peace is the only solution and that if the US really wanted peace, it could happen tomorrow. Instead, he fears a further escalation of the situation and that “a third world war could be knocking on our door” if any Western country decides to send soldiers to the battlefield to fight Russia.
