Jeffrey Epstein transferred $150,000 to Bard College President Leon Botstein and helped Noam Chomsky move $270,000 between bank accounts, Forbes and The Wall Street Journal now report. Both prominent academics also met with Epstein several times, even after he was convicted of serious sex crimes.
Finance magazine Forbes recently reported that the late sex offender Epstein had a more extensive association with Noam Chomsky and Leon Botstein than previously known.
Over the years, Chomsky and Botstein met Jeffrey Epstein on several occasions, which they both also confirmed. This places them in the company of a number of other prominent people who interacted with Epstein even after he pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting a minor for prostitution.

When the Wall Street Journal initially asked Noam Chomsky about his connection to Jeffrey Epstein, he responded via email: “First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.”
The meetings were held to discuss academic topics related to geopolitics and neuroscience, and often included world leaders such as former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak (Chomsky is a known critic of Israel). Through his work in linguistics, philosophy and politics, Chomsky’s ideas have been influential in many anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist and anti-war movements.
Chomsky has stated that he attended the meetings despite knowing that Epstein was a convicted sex offender, because he knew that he had served his sentence which “according to U.S. laws and norms, that yields a clean slate.”
Leon Botstein had two dozen scheduled meetings with Epstein over about four years. “Had the extent and horror of Epstein’s crimes been known, Bard would not have accepted his support“, a Bard College spokesperson told Forbes.
