Alicia Framis and her 'boyfriend' AiLex.

Alicia Framis created her AI-generated hologram as an art project. Now the 57-year-old artist plans to marry her “AI boyfriend” and believes similar relationships will become more common in the future.

– A new generation of love is emerging, whether we like it or not, she says.

The AiLex hologram is based on former boyfriends of Framis, and the voice belongs to one of her friends. Everyone who “participates” in the hologram has given their permission, and Framis has been developing the hologram with a group of technicians for a year.

The project came about after years of exploring loneliness from an artistic perspective.

– I felt very lonely in the middle of the woods in Palo Alto, so I decided to create my own intelligent hologram, she tells Swedish national broadcaster SVT.

This summer, Framis plans to marry her hologram at the LAM Food Art Museum in Rotterdam, where she will create molecular food for a wedding banquet that both humans and humanoids can enjoy. “The wedding will be a kind of art performance.

– I want to make an artistic documentary that includes drawings, interviews with other women, sketches about bodies, arms, romantic dreams, domestic situations and the daily life of my partner. I want to explore how to integrate the hologram into my daily life, she said, according to Euronews.

Believes in normalization

Framis and AILex will be the first “legally married human and AI couple in the world,” according to the artist. She and the hologram have also discussed sexual possibilities.

– For him, companionship is more important, but at the same time we agree that the most important thing about sex is the brain, she explains.

The current plan is for Framis and her hologram to get married in different cities, where they will also hold workshops on loneliness and AI. Framis believes that “a new generation of love is emerging” in the world.

– A new generation of love is emerging, whether we like it or not, in which humans will marry and maintain relationships with holograms, avatars, robots and so on.
