The man suspected of detonating a Tesla Cybertruck in front of one of Donald Trump’s hotels in Las Vegas and the man who killed 15 and injured 30 when he mowed down a crowd in New Orleans have served on the same military base. Sources tell the local TV channel Denver7.
Matthew Livelsberger reportedly rented a Cybertruck in Colorado Springs, drove it to Nevada and packed it full of fireworks and gas cans before detonating it in front of the Trump International Hotel in Vegas on Wednesday morning, killing himself and injuring seven others.
In New Orleans, 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar is suspected of plowing through a crowd of New Year’s Eve revelers, killing 15 and injuring at least 35 before being shot dead himself in a shootout with police.
It is reported that both perpetrators were army veterans and, according to the TV channel’s investigative journalist Tony Kovaleski, the two also served at the same military base.
“Sources also confirming Livelsberger served at the same military base as the terrorist responsible for the attack in New Orleans and authorities are investigating a possible connection between the two men”, he writes.

FBI believes there are more perpetrators
Both men allegedly carried out their attacks using vehicles rented from the car rental marketplace Turo – and according to company officials, there was no indication that the men posed any kind of security threat.
Jabbar joined the army in March 2007 and worked in both human resources and information technology. He served in Afghanistan from February 2009 to January 2010 and then transferred to the reserves in 2015, where he stayed for five years before leaving the military.
The FBI has previously stated that it does not believe Jabbar acted alone, citing footage allegedly showing other individuals placing potential explosives in the area shortly before the terror attack.
