Drea de Matteo, known for her work on HBO’s “The Sopranos,” says there are many supporters of Donald Trump in Hollywood – but they are afraid to publicly support the Republican candidate or publicly criticize Joe Biden – because “the far left owns Hollywood”.
In a recent interview with Jesse Watters, the actress described herself as an “outcast” in Hollywood after criticizing Joe Biden.
– On The Sopranos, even though we were critically acclaimed, we were the outcasts. I’m still an outcast. Here I am, they’re going to take me into the woods and shoot me for not endorsing Biden, she said, referring to the fate of her character Adriana La Cerva in the mafia series.
She believes there are “a lot of” actors who quietly support Trump or Robert F. Kennedy, but are afraid to speak out for fear of rabid political opponents with great influence over the industry.
Dislikes De Niro
De Matteo, who is of Italian descent, feels “mortified” by the political behavior of some other prominent Italian-American figures – including Robert De Niro, who has launched several very vicious attacks on Trump.
– It’s the Italians, man. We’re talking about Fauci, we’re talking about De Niro. I am mortified right now by my people. I don’t understand what we’re doing here.
She also speculated whether De Niro and others were paid to publicly endorse Biden at a star-studded Los Angeles fundraiser attended by several celebrities.
– I wonder how much these actors got paid to endorse Biden at this point. I am curious.
“The far left owns Hollywood”
The actress has also been a vocal critic of the so-called “cancellation culture”, and recently appeared on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast, where she revealed that she previously voted for Biden because she sympathized with illegal immigrants – but that the border chaos and other issues changed her mind.
In another interview with Varney & Co, she explained that it is well known that “the far left owns Hollywood”, but that “a lot of people are tired of it”.
– There are very few people that are willing to speak out. They probably will vote Republican, and that’s people who would never normally, but people are afraid. This doesn’t feel like a democracy anymore, she said.
Regarding Biden’s leadership, de Matteo said it is clear that “the man needs to take a rest” and that it is obvious that the president is so ill that he is no longer leading the United States, but rather being used as a “pawn” by his administration.
– They need to stop using him as the poster child for their agenda. He’s not here. It’s like putting my mother out there. She has dementia. It’s sad, it’s not humane.
