Actor Mark Hamill, best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the classic Star Wars trilogy, has publicly voiced his support for an attempt to sabotage one of presidential candidate Donald Trump’s upcoming rallies.
Donald Trump’s rally is scheduled to take place on October 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York and the planned sabotage, supported by Mark Hamill and others, involves encouraging Trump opponents to register for free tickets without attending.
The scheme, instigated by the so-called Lincoln Project and led by Trump opponents Rick Wilson and George Conway, aims to create empty seats and make the rally look sparsely attended in the media. They argue that their tactics could also prevent Trump’s real supporters from attending the event.
Mark Hamill, world famous for his role as Luke Skywalker in the iconic Star Wars trilogy (1977-1983), has been promoting the campaign to his millions of followers on social media, helping the initiative to go viral.
On platforms such as X and Instagram, so-called influencers have shared pictures of their tickets to show their support for the sabotage, including Hamill himself.
So, you’re basically trying to incite people into signing up for a rally of an opposing candidate so that it looks empty? Do you think that in any way will lower his actual number of supporters? Especially since you have put this post up for everyone to see?

Uncertain if the sabotage will succeed
Despite the viral spread of the campaign, several news sources have indicated that the project is unlikely to succeed. As with many of Trump’s rallies, seating will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, rather than through a ticketing system.
This means that the seats are filled by those who arrive first, which means that any absent ticket holders are unlikely to have a significant impact on the outcome of the event.
The Lincoln Project has a history of controversy, including allegations of internal sexual harassment, and has been actively working to counter Trump’s political campaigns in recent years.
The organization recently launched a commercial featuring actor Sam Elliott to mobilize male voters to support vice president Kamala Harris. Mark Hamill’s involvement has brought further attention to the Lincoln Project’s initiative, but it remains to be seen whether their efforts will have any real effect on turnout.
