Israel has launched massive bombing raids in Lebanon, killing at least 274 people and wounding over 1,000 others, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. Israel’s military has struck some 800 targets allegedly belonging to Hezbollah and vows to continue its attacks.
On Monday morning, tens of thousands of Lebanese received phone warnings from Israel to take shelter immediately because of the dangerous situation. According to the Ministry of Health, the Israeli airstrikes, which began early this morning, have killed at least 274 people, including 21 children, and injured more than 1,000 people. This is the highest death toll in Lebanon since the Gaza war began in October.
Civilians are fleeing in large numbers from the southern border areas and the southern suburbs of Beirut, causing long traffic jams. Attacks have been reported in much of southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley in the east. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health is calling on hospitals to suspend all non-emergency care to accommodate the injured.
