When you read on Radio Sweden’s website about their mission, you’re told it is supposed to be characterized by “independence” and conducted autonomously from the state as well as from political, economic, and other spheres of interest in society, where no one outside the company can influence what is broadcast.
Given their news reporting, their choice of summer speakers, and what’s highlighted in Ekot’s Saturday interviews, I seriously doubt whether they are even trying to live up to their mandate. “Independent” Radio Sweden instead comes across more like a megaphone for warmongers.
In February, Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) was first interviewed about Sweden’s stance towards Russia and how Sweden supports Ukraine, our country’s most important priority ever.
The following week, it was Defense Minister Pål Jonson’s (M) turn to fill the airwaves with scaremongering and calls for all of Europe to take responsibility for rearmament.
Two weeks ago, Thomas Nilsson, head of the military intelligence and security service Must, was given free rein in Ekot’s Saturday interview to spread Russophobia and scare the population with threats that Sweden could become a target for a military attack from Russia within just a few years.
Last week it was EU Minister Jessica Rosencrantz from the Moderate Party who talked about the important support for Ukraine and rearmament.
Perhaps time for something entirely different now… but no. Instead, the Director General of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) was given the spotlight to praise how the Swedish defense industry must increase its production and that the state needs to help.
Göran Mårtensson believes that the state may need to step in with support, as some form of guarantee to increase the defense industry’s production because the defense industry’s needs were previously not dimensioned for a large-scale war in Europe.
Once again, we are being fed the same rhetoric of war-mongering and rearmament based on an inflated threat from Russia with the aim of programming the people to continue believing the narrative and supporting this madness instead of standing up for peace and diplomacy, which in the end has nothing to do with benefiting the military-industrial complex… right?
It’s a shame more people don’t see through the lies and manufactured threats being pumped out around the clock by the megaphones of our state-controlled mass media, the consequences of which are draining the population dry, since we give decision-makers free rein to sprinkle around our money as they please. Maybe then we could collectively replace this corrupt leadership with people of common sense who aren’t leashed to their masters – a utopia, sadly, as things stand now, when the brainwashed public obediently does as expected.
