Seven UN experts call for an independent investigation into allegations of Israeli abuses, particularly against Palestinian girls and women. The allegations against the IDF include sexual abuse, rape and murder.
The group of experts expressed deep concern about “credible allegations of egregious human rights violations” against women and girls in Gaza and the West Bank, according to the Washington Examiner.
In a joint statement, they underscored their concern over reports that Palestinian women and children fleeing the fighting are being targeted without any legal protection.
“We are particularly distressed by reports that Palestinian women and girls in detention have also been subjected to multiple forms of sexual assault, such as being stripped naked and searched by male Israeli army officers. At least two female Palestinian detainees were reportedly raped while others were reportedly threatened with rape and sexual violence”.

Israel denies the allegations
“We are shocked by reports of the deliberate targeting and extrajudicial killing of Palestinian women and children in places where they sought refuge, or while fleeing. Some of them were reportedly holding white pieces of cloth when they were killed by the Israeli army or affiliated forces”, the statement said.
The UN experts now call for an independent and impartial investigation into these serious allegations and urge Israel to cooperate fully in this process. While the Israeli side has called the allegations “despicable and baseless,” it says it is willing to investigate the allegations if they can be confirmed as “credible” and presented with sufficient evidence.
It is noted that the UN experts, appointed by the UN Human Rights Council, act independently and do not represent the United Nations itself as an organization.
Despite Israel’s denials, the group of experts insists that a fair and transparent investigation is essential to shed light on the events and ensure justice for the women and girls affected.
