British Healthcare Provider: Trans and biological women’s breast milk “comparable”

The LGBT lobby

The LGBTQ movement has long argued that there are no differences between trans women and biological women.

The University of Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, part of the UK’s tax-funded public health system, claims that breast milk produced by trans women is “comparable” to the milk of biological women who have actually given birth.

In a letter to a group of activists, officials write that after taking a combination of hormonal drugs, a trans woman’s milk is “comparable to the milk produced after a baby is born”.

The health authority, which runs the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Worthing Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, among others, was also the first in the UK to use the term “chestfeeding” instead of “breastfeeding” which trans activists say is more inclusive.

In 2021, the hospital created what it called the “first clinical and language guidelines supporting trans and non-binary birthing people”.

The guidelines included claims about trans women’s ability to produce milk for babies – which became the subject of complaints from Children of Transitioners, an organization founded by a woman whose father had undergone gender reassignment surgery.

Hormones and drugs

In its August 2023 response, the hospital defended its claims, citing five articles from 1977 and pointing to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and alleged “overwhelming evidence” that “human milk” is better for babies than formula.

It also referred to a 2022 study that found “milk testosterone concentrations” were less than one percent and that “no observable side effects” were seen in infants. The study lasted five months and did not provide long-term data.

For people to breastfeed, they need to develop milk-producing glands by taking the hormone progestin. A lactation drug is also required, such as domperidone, which is often prescribed to women struggling to breastfeed and helps stimulate the production of prolactin – a separate hormone that tells the body to produce milk, notes The Telegraph.

“Men can’t breastfeed”

Lottie Moore of the conservative think tank Policy Exchange, which recently published the letter to the public, says the caregivers are “is unbalanced and naïve in its assertion that the secretions produced by a male on hormones can nourish an infant in the way a mother’s breast milk can”.

The health care provider has since removed the web page where the advice was posted and instead links to an external website, La Leche League, which states that it “supports everyone who wants to breastfeed or chestfeed in reaching their goals”.

– For a chief executive and medical director of an NHS trust to prioritise trans identities over what is best for mothers and their babies is deeply disturbing, said Maya Forstater, director of the campaign group Sex Matters.

– Male people, however they identify or describe themselves, cannot breastfeed, said Milli Hill, a campaigner for women’s birthing rights.

However, the health care provider stands by its comments, saying they are based on “facts”.

UK Supreme Court: Womanhood is something one is born into

The LGBT lobby

Many British women consider the court's decision a great victory.

The UK Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that the term “woman” in the country’s equality legislation refers to biological sex and nothing else.

The ruling rejects the Scottish Government’s interpretation, which included trans women in the definition and quotas for biological men who have “changed sex” as women in the workplace.

A panel of five judges, led by Justice Patrick Hodge, ruled that the words “woman” and “sex” in the Equality Act refer to a biological woman and biological sex.

The ruling means, among other things, that transgender people should not be counted as women for the purposes of the Equality Act’s quotas although the court was careful to emphasize that they should continue to be protected from discrimination on the basis of their gender identity.

The case stems from a 2018 Scottish law requiring public authorities in Scotland to have at least 50% women on their boards. According to the Scottish Government’s interpretation, trans women were included in this quota. However, the women’s rights group For Women Scotland (FWS) disputed this, arguing that the definition of woman cannot be extended beyond biological sex.

“Refers to reality –  not to paperwork”

An early court ruling in 2022 was appealed to the Supreme Court, which has now agreed with FWS.

Maya Forstater of the group Sex Matters considers the ruling a “great victory”:

– The court has given us the right answer: the protected characteristic of sex – male and female – refers to reality, not to paperwork, she says.

FWS director Trina Budge previously warned that a broader interpretation of gender risks filling quotas with “50% men, and 50% men with certificates”, which would undermine the purpose of the law.

Supported by J.K. Rowling

The group also highlighted that transgender access to women’s toilets, women’s prisons and women’s wards in hospitals can have very negative consequences and create insecurity.

FWS lawyer Aidan O’Neill argued during the trial that gender must be understood in law as a “expression of one’s bodily reality. It is an immutable biological state”.

For Women Scotland has received support from well-known author J.K. Rowling, who has reportedly donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to the group. Rowling has long argued in the past that it is unreasonable for trans women’s rights to be at the expense of biological women.

However, not everyone is applauding the ruling on the contrary, the human rights organization Amnesty International is highly critical and claims that transgender people now risk having their human rights violated.

EU grants hundreds of millions to gender ideology organizations

“NGOs have played a direct role in drafting EU gender policies”, the report's author stresses.

The European Union has long provided over €200 million in grants to organizations promoting gender ideology, according to a new report by the think tank MCC Brussels. This has raised questions about the EU’s priorities and use of citizens’ tax money.

The report, authored by sociologist Ashley Frawley of MCC Brussels, shows that between 2014 and 2021, the EU has funded 258 organizations working on LGBTQ issues and the promotion of gender ideology, UnHerd reports.

Based on figures for the period 2014 – 2023, the organizations have received around €221 million in grants.

The largest grantee for the period 2014 – 2023 was ILGA Worldwide, which received €64.95 million for its advocacy work on gender identity. Other recipients included its European branch, ILGA-Europe (€16 million), the international LGBTQ organization IGLYO (€6 million), Transgender Europe (TGEU) (€4.6 million), the Lesbian Feminist and Intersectional Network (€6.2 million) and Intersex International Europe (€1.2 million).

Ashley Frawley commented on the report: “NGOs use EU funding to pressure national governments into adopting gender identity laws, bypassing national sovereignty”.

“Dictated by unelected activists”

Frawley argues that EU policies, originally designed to protect women and girls, have been reshaped to prioritize gender identity issues instead. Frawley believes that the policy has been “dictated by unelected activists rather than open national debates”.

– NGOs have played a direct role in drafting EU gender policies, frequently operating without public transparency.

The report highlights that many of the funded organizations are actively working to influence EU policies and legislation. This raises questions about potential conflicts of interest and democratic legitimacy.

Among the largest recipients of EU funding is the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), which has received over €30 million. IPPF is controversial because of its involvement in abortion issues and sex education for children.

– They have redefined gender to have a very weak relationship with biological sex, and then they emphasize gender over sex, Frawley told The Epoch Times.

MCC Brussels: Violating the principle of neutrality

The think tank argues that funding organizations like these goes against the EU’s principle of neutrality on ethical issues. They argue that the Union should focus on more pressing economic and social challenges.

The conservative think tank ECLJ is also critical of EU policies in several areas and has previously published expert reports on freedom of expression, digital laws and EU climate policy. The MCC Brussels report is thus part of ECLJ’s ongoing review of EU policies and priorities.

The debate on the EU’s funding of gender ideology organizations is expected to intensify in light of the report, with questions of transparency, accountability and priorities in the EU’s budget allocation coming into focus.

It is worth noting that MCC Brussels is a think tank linked to the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC), which has received funding from the Hungarian government under Viktor Orbán.

Critics, such as Corporate Europe Observatory, have questioned the independence and transparency of the think tank regarding its funding and lobbying activities.

Trump bans gender-altering treatments for children

Donald Trump's USA

Trump points out that many of the children who undergo gender reassignment treatments soon regret it.

Donald Trump has signed an executive order to severely restrict “chemical and surgical” gender reassignment surgery on minors in the United States.

Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions”, reads the order, which is titled “Protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation”,

This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end“, the President states.

The President-elect also believes that large numbers of children who have undergone FGM will soon begin to regret their mutilation and “begin to grasp the horrifying tragedy that they will never be able to conceive children of their own or nurture their children through breastfeeding”.

Moreover, these vulnerable youths’ medical bills may rise throughout their lifetimes, as they are often trapped with lifelong medical complications, a losing war with their own bodies, and, tragically, sterilization”, the order continues.

Sweden pushed through “gender reassignment law”

Trump decides that US policy will continue to be not to fund, sponsor, promote, assist or support the so-called transition of a child from the biological to the perceived sex, and to strictly enforce all laws that prohibit or restrict these “destructive and life-altering procedures“.

US health authorities will also be tasked with developing strategies on how to work instead to improve the mental well-being of children suffering from gender dysphoria or similar “identity-based confusion”.

Trump’s views on children and gender reassignment treatments contrast sharply with those of the Swedish government. Last year, Prime Minister Ulf Krisersson was a driving force behind the passage of a new “Gender Identity Act” which, among other things, lowered the age limit for changing legal gender from 18 to 16 and removed the requirement for a medical examination before treatment.

All parties except SD and KD supported this liberalization, and representatives of the Moderate Party warned that they had been pressured by the top party leadership to vote for the law – and that they otherwise risked reprisals of various kinds.

Trump bans transgender individuals from military service

If the US military is to be effective, trans ideology must be “thrown out”, says the US President.

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to eliminate what he describes as “trans ideology” in the US military. According to Trump, the order aims to ensure a stronger and more effective fighting force.

The order states that the expression of a gender identity that differs from biological sex is not consistent with military norms and obligations.

To ensure that we have the most lethal fighting force in the world, we will get transgender ideology the hell out of our military”, Trump said, according to AFP news agency.

The document further emphasizes that the adoption of a gender identity that is not consistent with biological sex violates a soldier’s duty to live an honorable, truthful and disciplined life, even off duty.

A man’s assertion that he is a woman, and his requirement that others honor this falsehood, is not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member”, the order states.

Biden revamped the policy

Beyond the trans issue, the presidential order includes a broader update to medical criteria for military service. The Pentagon is asked to update guidelines on physical and mental health requirements to ensure that only those who are fully combat-capable are accepted for service.

Among the health conditions identified as potentially disqualifying are mental illnesses, extensive medication, bipolar diagnoses, eating disorders, suicidal tendencies, and a history of psychiatric treatment. According to the administration, these factors can affect a soldier’s readiness and ability to perform their duties under extreme conditions.

Trump’s decision builds on his previous directive from 2017, which barred transgender people from openly serving in the military. That policy was rescinded by the Biden administration in 2021, but Trump’s new order now reinstates a more restrictive stance.

While the order does not immediately ban transgender people from serving, it tasks the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security with reviewing medical guidelines and presenting an action plan to implement the changes.

Wanting to reform the army

Meanwhile, the decision has already been met with legal challenges. Lobbying organizations working for transgender rights have filed a lawsuit against the order in a federal court in Washington.

The Department of Defense has assured in a statement that despite the left-liberal criticism, it will implement the president’s order in accordance with national security objectives.

We will fully execute and implement all directives outlined in the executive orders issued by the president, ensuring that they are carried out with utmost professionalism, efficiency, and in alignment with national security objectives“, reads the statement from the Pentagon.

Trump’s action is part of a broader effort to reform the US military. In addition to the trans issue, his recently signed executive order also includes an air defense buildup and plans to develop a US version of Israel’s Iron Dome.
