There has long been speculation that the US-led NATO military alliance is not only supplying weapons and training Ukrainian soldiers, but also taking part in the fighting in Ukraine.

While several Western leaders have denied plans for military intervention in the country, Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed that “NATO soldiers are already present in Ukraine.

Speaking at a conference commemorating Poland’s 25th anniversary as a NATO member, Sikorski confirmed that several member states had quietly decided to send troops to Ukraine, and although he would not reveal which countries were involved, he expressed gratitude for the decision.

– NATO soldiers are already present in Ukraine. And I would like to thank the ambassadors of those countries who have taken that risk. These countries know who they are, but I can’t disclose them. Contrary to other politicians, I will not list those countries, he said.

Macron floats sending soldiers

Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron said that sending French soldiers to fight against Russia was “not excluded”, but it is unclear whether France is one of the countries mentioned.

Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said Poland’s admission meant that it would be pointless for NATO to deny its direct military involvement in the war in the future.

In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously warned of a direct military confrontation between Russia and the US-led military alliance if NATO countries send troops to Ukraine.

In this case we need to speak not about a possibility but of the inevitability” of confrontation, he said in February.
