Entrepreneur and tech billionaire Elon Musk likens left-liberal billionaire and globalist George Soros to Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, the powerful main villain in the Star Wars films.

The move followed Joe Biden’s decision to award the powerful financier America’s highest civilian honor – the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

In a message on X on Saturday, Musk posted a collage showing President Biden giving the decoration to the Star Wars villain, with a caption that read: “George Soros looking quite good here. Must be the lighting”.

Commenting on another user’s post, in which they compared the 94-year-old billionaire to Magneto – the main villain in Marvel’s X-Men comic book series, the South African tech magnate called Soros’ award a “travesty“.

On Saturday, Joe Biden named nineteen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom “presented to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors”.

The outgoing President hailed these individuals as “good people” and claimed that those selected “have made America and the world a better place“.

Hillary Clinton was honored

Soros, whose propaganda and media network has supported coups and revolutions in several countries, did not attend the ceremony – instead, his son and heir Alex accepted the award on his behalf.

According to a White House statement, it is claimed that Soros “through his network of foundations, partners and projects in more than 120 countries, Soros has focused on global initiatives that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice“.

However, critics have pointed out that the Hungarian-Jewish currency speculator played a major role in the collapse of the British pound in 1992 and contributed to the Thai financial crisis five years later. Through the Open Society Foundations network, he has also actively lobbied for increased mass immigration and influenced political processes in a large number of countries around the world, which is why Soros’ power network has now also been banned in Russia, Pakistan and the Philippines, among others.

Among those Biden chose to honor was former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is said to have “made history many times over decades in public service“.

The British consumer organization Which? has filed a lawsuit against the technology company Apple. Which? argues that Apple has favored its own cloud service, iCloud, at the expense of consumers, and is now seeking £3 billion in damages.

In the lawsuit, Which? claims that Apple is using its dominance in the iOS operating system to steer consumers to iCloud, thereby raising prices for cloud storage, TechCrunch reports.

The group accuses Apple of locking in iOS users by limiting data storage options, including imposing what it says are extortionate prices on customers for extra storage space.

According to Which? Apple has prevented consumers from fully using other storage providers on their devices, and raised iCloud prices for UK users by up to 29% in 2023.

“iOS has a monopoly and is in control of Apple’s operating systems and it is incumbent on Apple not to use that dominance to gain an unfair advantage in related markets, like the cloud storage market. But that is exactly what has happened”, writes Which? in a press release.

Apple denies the accusation

Apple has responded by denying all allegations, and company spokesman Tom Parker has issued a statement:

– Apple believes in providing our customers with choices. Our users are not required to use iCloud, and many rely on a wide range of third-party alternatives for data storage. In addition, we work hard to make data transfer as easy as possible – whether it is to iCloud or another service. We deny any suggestion that our iCloud practices are anti-competitive, and we will vigorously defend against the legal claims.

The UK lawsuit covers all UK consumers who have used iCloud since October 2015, when the Consumer Rights Act came into force.

The financial risk for Which? is covered by Litigation Capital Management, which according to Which? has committed to pursue the case to its conclusion.

Apple subject to multiple lawsuits

Which? hopes that Apple will opt for a settlement, which would give consumers the right to compensation and open the door to more competition in cloud computing. The organization’s executive director, Anabel Hoult:

– By bringing this claim, Which? is showing big corporations like Apple that they cannot rip off UK consumers without facing repercussions. Taking this legal action means we can help consumers to get the redress that they are owed, deter similar behavior in the future and create a better, more competitive market.

It is worth noting that the number of similar competition cases against Big Tech has increased in recent years.

In the UK, Apple has been the subject of an antitrust lawsuit in the form of a class action last year on behalf of software developers in connection with charges in the App Store. In the same year, a separate lawsuit was also filed against Apple and Amazon in the UK with allegations of price collusion.

Ursula von der Leyen faced harsh criticism when her mandate as President of the European Commission was renewed. With 401 votes in favor, 284 against and 22 abstentions or invalid votes, the high-profile ultra-globalist was reappointed to lead the EU until 2029. Despite this, many were critical, including the Sweden Democrats and Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik of the Polish national conservative party Konfederacja.

Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik made strong accusations against von der Leyen, accusing her of promoting mass immigration, which she said had led to increased crime and insecurity in Europe. She made the accusations directly to von der Leyen during a heated debate in parliament:

– You are responsible for every rape, for every assault, for every tragedy caused by the influx of illegal immigrants.

In particular, she highlighted the crime that she says has accompanied the migrants and caused great insecurity among Europeans, including rape.

Criticism of the ‘green transition’

Ms. Zajączkowska-Hernik also harshly criticized the EU’s “green transition” and demonstratively tore up copies of the Climate Pact and the Migration Pact during her speech. She continued her criticism with a personal appeal:

– I address you as woman to woman, as mother to mother: how can you not be ashamed, promoting something like [the] Migration Pact, which leads to millions of women in Europe and children feeling threatened on the streets of their own cities?

Her remarks were met with loud boos from left-liberal MEPs, but she did not back down from her position. She argued that von der Leyen should be in jail because of the mass immigration she believes the European Commission president has promoted.

Von der Leyen’s response

Von der Leyen herself responded to the criticism by highlighting her plans to combat the spread of “fake news”. She described her strategy, “pre-bunking”, as a form of “vaccination” against disinformation.

– Instead of treating an infection once it has taken hold, that’s the de-bunking, it is better to vaccinate, so that our body is inoculated, she explained.

Furthermore, von der Leyen stressed the importance of making EU citizens aware of “malign information influence” and the techniques behind it to reduce the risk of being influenced.

She also criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for his trips to Kiev, Moscow, Beijing and Florida, which she described as a “appeasement mission” rather than – as Orbán himself chose to call them – a “peace mission”.

She also promised never to accept that “demagogues and extremists destroy our European way of life” and stressed that the EU will work to achieve the “green transition” targets set for 2030 and 2050.

The European Parliament has re-elected ultra-globalist Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission for a new five-year term. The vote, which took place on Thursday, resulted in 401 votes for von der Leyen, 40 more than the required majority of 361.

The Parliament currently has 719 members, of whom 284 voted against and 22 abstained or cast invalid votes. This will be Ursula von der Leyen’s second term as Commission President, after she was first elected by MEPs in July 2019.

Ahead of the vote, Ursula von der Leyen presented her policy priorities for the next five years in a debate with MEPs. She promised to lead the fight against “demagogues and extremists” in Europe.

– We don’t agree on everything, but we should at least agree that Europe is stronger when we overcome our differences and join forces, von der Leyen said.

According to Article 14 of the Treaty on European Union, the European Parliament “shall elect the President of the Commission”. Ursula von der Leyen, who was the European People’s Party’s (EPP) top candidate in the June 6-9 European elections, has now been reappointed to lead the European Commission for another five years.

Following her re-election, Ursula von der Leyen will now send official letters to the Heads of State or Government of the Member States, inviting them to propose their candidates for the posts of European Commissioners. The Parliament will then organize hearings of the candidates in the different committees after the summer, and the whole College of Commissioners will then have to be approved by the Parliament.

The Annual Meeting of the New Champions kicked off today in Dalian, with 1,600 leaders expected to attend. Partners include vaccine giants Pfizer and Astra Zeneca, investment firm BlackRock, Google and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

– Dalian will enhance the Forum’s influence through its openness and inclusiveness, promises the city’s mayor, Chen Shaowang.

The World Economic Forum is probably best known to the public for its annual summits in Davos, Switzerland, where influential leaders and organizations from around the world gather to discuss and set the agenda for what issues to focus on and then push for politically.

However, the Davos conference is not the only high-profile event hosted by the power network. The 15th edition of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions will take place June 25-27, with nearly 1,600 participants from some 80 countries.

– In the face of unprecedented global challenges, the power of collaboration and innovation cannot be overstated. The Annual Meeting of the New Champions will provide a unique platform for leaders to come together, share insights and drive forward-thinking solutions that can shape the future of the global economy, said founder Klaus Schwab.

“The engine room of global growth”

– Through robust dialogue and collaboration, the conference aims to forge a unified vision for development. Anticipated to highlight China’s impressive economic and social progress, as well as its commitment to high-level openness, AMNC 2024 will also present the international community with the opportunities arising from China’s modernization, said Pan Jiang, Director General of the Chinese Department of International Cooperation under the National Development and Reform Commission.

According to Liming Chen, who heads the World Economic Forum’s “Greater China” department, Asia is “the engine room of global growth, and China remains the single largest contributor”, He adds that the conference “provides a timely opportunity to jointly promote the dynamic potential of innovation and create the conditions for sustainable economic development in the region and beyond”.

“This meeting in Asia, a region that continues to drive two-thirds of all global growth, will allow leaders to collaborate and promote ways to stimulate and sustain positive economic momentum”, the World Economic further writes in a press release.

“Will increase the Forum’s influence”

This year’s conference is organized around the following six main themes:

  • Investing in people
  • Connecting climate, nature and energy

The World Economic Forum’s listed partners include BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Google, Amazon, Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Coca-Cola Company.

In addition, the conference has no single chair, but rather “10 global co-chairs”, including Faisal Alibrahim, Saudi Arabia’s minister of economy and planning; Bonnie Chan Yiting, CEO of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing; Jeffrey Lu Minfang, vice chairman of China’s Mengniu Group; and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
