Kris Kobach, Attorney General of Kansas, filed a civil lawsuit against Pfizer on Monday. He argues that “Pfizer misled the public that it had a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine” and violated the state’s consumer protection law.
– Pfizer made multiple misleading statements to deceive the public about its vaccine at a time when Americans needed the truth, Kobach said.
The lawsuit alleges that the pharmaceutical company intentionally concealed, suppressed and omitted material facts about the COVID-19 vaccine. One of the “most serious” is allegedly the safety of the covid-19 vaccine for pregnant women.
– Pfizer marketed its vaccine as safe for pregnant women, Kobach said, according to the Kansas Reflector. However, in February of 2021 (they) possessed reports of 458 pregnant women who received Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy. More than half of the pregnant women reported an adverse event, and more than 10% reported a miscarriage.
In addition, the Minister of Justice points out that Pfizer marketed the covid vaccine as safe with regard to myocarditis and pericarditis, among others. Furthermore, he refers to the fact that the company’s CEO, Albert Boula, claimed last January that “we have not seen a single signal, although we have distributed billions of doses”. when it came to myocarditis.
– However, as Pfizer knew, the United States Government, the United States Military foreign governments and others have found that Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine caused myocarditis and pericarditis, Kobach says.
Pfizer also promoted its covid vaccine as effective against all covid variants and that it would stop the spread of infection.
– Pfizer urged Americans to get vaccinated in order to protect their loved ones, clearly indicating a claim that Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccination stopped transmission, Kobach says. Pfizer later admitted that they’ve never even studied transmission after the recipients receive the vaccine.
No merit
In a statement, Pfizer said its covid vaccine has saved countless lives and that the company’s claims about the covid vaccine are accurate and based on science.
“The company believes that the state’s case has no merit and will respond to the suit in due course”, the company wrote.
Texas also filed a lawsuit against Pfizer late last year, but Kobach says five other states are also in the process of suing the company.
