At least 110 people have been killed and dozens more injured in Israeli attacks on northern Gaza over the past 24 hours, according to the director general of the Palestinian Health Ministry.
According to Palestinian officials, at least 110 bodies had been buried by Monday morning, and “dozens” are believed to remain under the rubble of Israeli bombardments.
An older cemetery, which had actually been decommissioned, had to be used because the dead could not be buried in the nearby Al-Fallujah cemetery, which is normally used, CNN reports.
Although Palestinian officials do not distinguish between civilians and militants, they say the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.
The Israeli military would not comment on specific attacks, but claims that Hamas has “deliberately and systematically” placed military targets among civilians.
According to local authorities and international organizations on the ground in Gaza, some 19,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7. Another 1.9 million people – 85% of the local population – have been forced to flee their homes and head to southern parts of the Gaza Strip.
