Astra Zeneca has admitted in court documents that its Covid-19 vaccine can cause blood clots in “very rare cases”. The pharmaceutical company is now facing legal action following allegations that the vaccine has caused deaths and serious side effects in dozens of cases.
The pharmaceutical giant developed the vaccine “Covishield” in collaboration with the University of Oxford in the UK, and it was then produced by the Serum Institute of India. The vaccine has been administered in over 150 countries, including the UK and India.
Earlier this year, more than 40 class action lawsuits were filed against the company, with plaintiffs claiming to have suffered serious side effects or had a loved one die as a result of the Covid vaccine.
Astra Zeneca has always denied these claims, but now suddenly admits that the vaccine can cause thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), which includes blood clots and low platelet levels.
““It is admitted that the AZ vaccine can, in very rare cases, cause TTS. The causal mechanism is not known”, the pharmaceutical company wrote in court documents in February, reports The Telegraph.
WHO confirms vaccine damage
According to the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences, an international organization that works with the WHO to promote medical research and ethics worldwide, “in very rare cases” mean about one in 10,000 people are affected.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also confirmed that Covidshield can cause these life-threatening rare adverse events:
“A very rare adverse event called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, which involves unusual and severe blood clotting events associated with low platelet counts, has been reported following vaccination with this vaccine”.
