Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announces that Ukraine will never become a member of the NATO military pact – and most likely not of the European Union either.
– Ukraine’s accession would destroy Hungarian farmers, and not only them, but the entire Hungarian national economy, he argues.
During his annual State of the Union address in Budapest, Orbàn noted that all 27 EU member states must be united in accepting new members into the Union, and that the question of Ukrainian membership “will ultimately be decided by the Hungarians”.
– Against the will of Hungary and the Hungarians, Ukraine will never be a member of the European Union, the Prime Minister continued, stressing that today there is a very negative attitude towards Ukrainian accession.
If it is highly unlikely that Ukraine will become a member of the EU, the Hungarian Prime Minister stated that membership of the US-led NATO military pact is out of the question.
– Ukraine, or what remains of it, will again become a buffer zone. It will not become a NATO member.

He argued that the war that has raged for three years “was not even about Ukraine, but about the territory called Ukraine – which until now has been a buffer zone between NATO and Russia – being placed under the auspices of NATO”.
The Prime Minister’s statement is in line with recent announcements by Donald Trump’s administration, which declared that Kiev should abandon all hopes of future NATO membership.
During his speech, Orbán also declared that he will recommend that the Hungarian constitution be revised to clearly state that a person is either male or female, and hinted that the annual LGBTQ festival in Budapest might be banned.
– I suggest we go on a counterattack here. I advise Pride organizers not to bother with the preparation of this year’s parade. Waste of money and time, he said, according to AP.
